WHAT IS SUGARCANE (BAGASSE) PACKAGING
Bagasse is the fibrous pulp left after sugarcane stalks are crushed to extract their juice. It's pulped, moulded under heat and pressure, and formed into packaging items like clamshell containers, plates, bowls, trays, and sustainable straws. In addition to its sustainability, sugarcane bagasse packaging is microwave- and freezer-safe and grease- and water-resistant, making it ideal for food service.
SUGARCANE (BAGASSE) PACKAGING RECYCLABILITY
Sugarcane bagasse is fully recyclable and a renewable, agricultural waste-based alternative to plastic and polystyrene. As a plant-based material, it breaks down naturally into organic matter. Many bagasse products are also suitable for home composting, though the process may take longer.
SUGARCANE (BAGASSE) PACKAGING ECO-FRIENDLINESS
The advantage of sugarcane bagasse packaging is that it's made from a by-product that would otherwise be burned or discarded. This means no additional crops are grown specifically to produce it. Producing it also carries a lower carbon footprint than petroleum-based plastics and polystyrene.
