WHAT IS LDPE PLASTIC PACKAGING?

LDPE plastic is commonly used in packaging applications, including plastic bags, e-commerce flyers, and bin bags. It is widely used in film applications due to its properties and in some rigid applications.

LDPE is a code 4 packaging material that is recyclable in South Africa. It is less commonly recycled compared to HDPE. Recyclability depends on the format and collection stream. The recycling rate for LDPE is lower because it is often used in thin film applications, which are harder to collect, separate, and clean.
